The Beauty of Coconut Oil
While you won’t find coconut oil under the ‘essential oils’ category, it should definitely be an essential in your beauty regimen.
For at-home use, the best kind to use is certified organic, raw, virgin coconut oil stored at room temperature. It will melt in heat and become too hard in cooler temperatures.
You would do well to mix in coconut oil with your favourite nighttime moisturizer. The fatty acids found in coconut oil reinforce your skin’s natural lipid barrier. It helps lock in moisture and keeps your skin hydrated and looking fresh. The antioxidants also help to smoothe out lines and wrinkles.
As a natural lubricant, coconut oil is great for shaving. Instead of buying shaving creams that contain chemicals, enjoy the natural skin soothing properties of coconut oil and hydrate the skin on your legs.
Eye Makeup Remover
Stop buying makeup wipes and expensive face washes! Coconut oil can remove even the strongest waterproof mascara. Put some on a cotton pad or ball and wipe away! When you’re done, wash your face as per usual.
Dry, cracked lips don’t stand a chance against coconut oil. The great thing about coconut oil is that it is solid at room temperature, so you can put some in a little jar or container and keep your lips hydrated throughout the day.
Dry Scalp and Dandruff
Moisturize your dry scalp with coconut oil. Apply it to your roots and massage it through your hair. Leave it in for around 5 minutes and then shampoo. Your folicles will thank you!
The fatty acids in coconut oil will soften your hair. Rub a small amount in your hair and pull it through as if you are shampooing. The longer you leave it in the better, so we recommend wrapping your hair up in a towel and sleeping with it overnight.
No More Frizz
Use a SMALL amount of coconut oil to tame flyaway hairs in your nightly routine. Keep in mind, you don’t want your hair to look greasy. A little goes a long way.
‘Oil pulling’ aka gargling and swishing coconut oil in your mouth for about 20 minutes, will help clear germs and plaque in the mouth, which can lead to fresher breath, healthier gums, whiter teeth and tooth decay prevention.
Coconut oil has become a staple in many households, and for good reason. Try it, and you’ll see.
