Tips For Sticking To New Year’s Resolutions

January 1st is a game changer for people every year…that is, until we forget about our resolutions and go back to last year’s routine. It can be hard to make resolutions that actually stick, but we’re here to help. Here’s how to actually turn the New Year into a clean slate. 

It is important to remember that you are, generally speaking, trying to change something about the way you live. It is important, then, to remember that it helps to make the resolution part of your routine.

 

Write It Down EVERYDAY

Some people think maintaining a diary or journal is hard, which it can be, but ultimately it’s pretty easy if you put your mind to it. No, you don’t have to write detailed entries of your daily encounters and experiences, just anything that pops into your head. Start this year off by writing down your resolution. And then again…and again…and again. Sometimes it helps to actually see your thoughts for you to grab the bull by the horns and do what you’re thinking. Continuously reminding yourself of your goal is like an alarm clock that won’t turn off, which is a good thing…unless it’s Sunday.

Have A Resolution That Will Benefit Yourself AND Others

It’s hard to let yourself down, and even harder when you let others down. If your resolution includes other people, it may motivate you to put on your big girl pants and be reliable. Have the mentality that if you come through for others, they’ll do the same for you. Sometimes it takes more than a new puppy to teach you responsiblity.
